# Reminders and profiles

> How personal Henry tracks people, things, dates, and promises, and when it reaches out.

Everything here is conversational. There is no form to fill in. Tell Henry, and it keeps track.

## Profiles

Henry keeps a profile for each thing in your life: a **person**, a **vehicle**, a **home**, a **pet**, a **document**, or anything else. Each profile has details and dates.

You build profiles by talking:

> My wife's birthday is March 3rd.

> The Civic's registration expires in June.

> Here's a photo of my renter's insurance card.

Henry reads photos of documents, tells you what it found, and saves the facts and dates. The original goes in your private document wallet, attached to the profile, so you can ask for it later.

## Automatic reminders

Every date on a profile grows a reminder that fires ahead of time:

| Kind of date | Henry reminds you |
| ------------ | ------------------------ |
| Birthday | 7 days ahead, every year |
| Expiry | 30 days ahead |
| Renewal | 30 days ahead |
| Service | 7 days ahead |
| Other | 14 days ahead |

Reminders arrive at 9 AM in your home timezone. If you add a date that is already inside its reminder window, Henry reminds you shortly after you save it rather than never.

When you tell Henry something is handled ("renewed the registration, good through next June"), it saves the new date and retires the old reminder.

## Commitments

A **commitment** is Henry's own to-do: a one-off promise to follow up.

> Remind me tonight to call the vet.

> I'll deal with the passport renewal next month.

Henry also creates commitments for things it promised you. Ask "what's on my list?", snooze one ("remind me next week instead"), or mark it done. Recurring work is a [task](/user-guide/tasks/overview) instead.

Henry does not double up. If a profile date already generates a reminder, Henry says so instead of adding a separate commitment.

## How Henry reaches you

* **By text**, once your phone is verified.
* **By email**, until then. Henry points you to **Channels** to link your number.

Control whether Henry may text you first with the **Proactive texts** switch in **Settings → Texting**.

## Quiet hours

Henry does not send reminders it initiated during quiet hours. The default window is 9 PM to 8 AM in your local time. Reminders that would land in the window wait until it ends. A time you explicitly asked for ("remind me at 11pm") fires exactly then.

Change your quiet hours or timezone by telling Henry: "don't text me after 10pm" or "I'm in Denver now."
