# Files Henry makes

> The files Henry can make for you (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, decks), how to ask, where each one lands, and how to send one on.

Ask Henry for a file and it makes one. Five kinds, in your company's look, delivered where you asked.

## What Henry makes

| Kind | Ask like | What you get |
| - | - | - |
| **PDF** | "A one-page PDF of last week's numbers with a chart by day" | A designed page or report with your colours and logo, charts included. |
| **Word document** | "Write that up as a Word doc" | A .docx with headings, tables and your brand fonts. |
| **Excel workbook** | "Put this in a spreadsheet" | An .xlsx with live formulas, so totals keep working when you edit it. |
| **PowerPoint** | "Make me a PowerPoint" | A native .pptx you can open and edit in PowerPoint or Keynote. |
| **Deck** | "Turn this into a deck" or "slides" | Slides that open beside the chat (arrow keys move between them), with PowerPoint and PDF export on request. |

Henry also still makes CSV files for data work, and it can edit a workbook you share with it.

## How to ask

* **Name the kind.** "PDF", "spreadsheet", "Word doc", "deck", "PowerPoint". Saying "send me something I can forward" or "export it" also tells Henry you want a file.
* **Henry never makes a file unasked.** When an answer is shaped like a report, it offers once, in one line ("Want this as a PDF?"). Say yes and the file arrives.
* **"Make me a doc" means a Henry document.** Google Docs or Google Sheets only when you say Google; then Henry makes it in your connected Google account and links to it there.
* **Follow up on the same file.** "Make it two pages", "export it as PowerPoint", "send it as a PDF". Henry works from what it already made.

Henry's reply is one plain sentence about what the file is. The card does the rest.

## Where files appear

| Channel | What you see |
| - | - |
| **Web app** | A card under Henry's reply, with a picture of page one for a PDF or a deck. Click it and the file opens in the panel beside the chat. A PowerPoint shows a download button. |
| **Slack** | The file is uploaded into the thread. |
| **Microsoft Teams** | A link to the file, valid for seven days. |
| **Email conversation with Henry** | A link to the file, valid for seven days. To have a file emailed as an attachment, see [Sending a file to someone](#sending-a-file-to-someone). |
| **Texting** | A link to the file, valid for seven days. |

Files Henry makes in a [Project](https://docs.usehenry.ai/user-guide/projects/overview.md) chat also appear in that project's **Files** tab.

## The look

Henry uses your website's colours and logo. There is no brand kit to set up: Henry reads your company's site once and keeps the look for every file it makes. Ask for "a plain version" when you want one without the branding. A workspace with no website, and every personal workspace, gets Henry's own clean style.

## Sending a file to someone

Ask in the chat the file came from: "email me the PDF", "send the report to [jane@client.com](mailto:jane@client.com)".

* **A teammate** gets the file as an email attachment straight away, no approval needed. Over 25 MB they get a link instead.
* **Anyone outside your workspace** never gets the file itself. Henry stages a confirmation card naming the file, its size and the address. After you approve, they get a link.
* **Links last seven days.** A teammate who opens one sees the file in the web app; anyone else sees a download page.

Sending a file is email only. To get a file into a Slack channel, ask for it in that channel.

## Docs and Apps

Published Docs at a shareable link, and Apps with their own database, are on the way. Their pages will sit here when they ship.
